Course Overview

What this course is designed to develop

Landscape and travel photography rewards photographers who combine technical control with creative vision and logistical discipline. This course covers the exposure triangle in outdoor contexts, the five most powerful composition techniques for natural scenes, and a complete travel workflow from pre-trip research to final export. You will shoot in real conditions — golden hour, overcast midday, and blue hour — and leave with a repeatable system that works from the Dolomites to the Canadian Rockies.

Learning Outcomes

What the learner should be able to understand, build, or execute.

01

Apply the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) to produce sharp, well-exposed landscape images in varied natural light

02

Use the rule of thirds, leading lines, foreground interest, framing, and layering to construct compelling compositions

03

Plan a travel shoot using weather apps, sun-position tools, and location scouting resources to maximise golden-hour opportunities

04

Build a consistent field-to-edit workflow covering capture, culling, raw processing in Lightroom, and export for web and print

05

Manage travel gear selection, backup strategy, and customs documentation for international photography trips

06

Diagnose and correct common beginner errors — blown highlights, soft horizons, flat midday images, and cluttered foregrounds
