Course Overview

What this course is designed to develop

Smartphone cameras now exceed the specs of entry-level DSLRs, yet most footage looks amateur because of poor framing, shaky movement, and flat light. This course teaches the cinematic fundamentals — exposure triangles adapted for mobile sensors, shot grammar, gimbal operation, and color grading in CapCut and LumaFusion — through hands-on exercises you can complete with any iPhone or Android. By the end you will have a complete short film and a repeatable production workflow.

Learning Outcomes

What the learner should be able to understand, build, or execute.

01

Apply the exposure triangle (ISO, shutter speed, aperture equivalent) to lock clean mobile exposure in any lighting condition

02

Compose shots using the rule of thirds, leading lines, and depth layering to create visual interest

03

Operate a 3-axis gimbal and execute four core movements: push, pull, orbit, and follow

04

Record dialogue and ambient sound using a TRRS lapel mic and the iOS/Android native voice-memo app as a backup recorder

05

Edit a 90-second short film in LumaFusion or CapCut using J-cuts, L-cuts, and color LUTs

06

Export a master file optimized for YouTube 4K, Instagram Reels, and TikTok in a single pass
